Shlomo Farber
Shlomo Farber was born in 1986 in Rohovot, Israel. Growing up at the settlement “Hashmonaim” he was exposed primarily to Jewish folk music and developed an interest in Jazz after starting piano lessons at age 9.
Attending a religious musical high school, he graduated majoring in Jazz Piano. He Served in the IDF (Israel defense force) between 2008 and 2011 and studied piano and composition at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance.
His works have been performed by various ensembles including: Portland Symphonic Choir (Winner of the 2017 composition contest), Jerusalem Capellatte Choral Ensemble, The Israel Sinfonietta Beer Sheva, Jerusalem Street Orchestra and the Israel Chamber Orchestra.
After graduating in 2013 he moved to Portland, Oregon, and started working as a piano instructor in the Portland area. He is currently graduating from the University of Chichester earning a master's degree in Cinematic Orchestration.
He has endless experience teaching youth ages 5 and beyond, and prides himself on a real relationship with his students and their progress.
Shlomo teaches at your home in SW Portland.
