Holiday break, and some announcements!

I'm going to be taking a break through the holiday season. Please use this time to catch up on episodes you might have missed. If you enjoy Zeitgeist Radio, there are a few other ways you can be involved in some of my other projects. First, I invite you to join my holiday program, Sing We Joyous. You may recognize this line from the holiday song, Deck the Hall, which says, Sing we joyous all together.

My favorite thing is singing all together with others. Also, I feel like learning a new skill this year, so I put these two things together into a project that should be really fun for everyone. Sing We Joyous is a fun and free holiday virtual choir caroling experience. You'll learn how to sing three holiday favorites, Deck the Halls, Jingle Bells, and We Wish You a Merry Christmas.

You'll practice the material, then send me a recording of yourself singing along. Don't worry if you're not tech savvy, I provide instructions and I'm here to help if you get stuck, I'll do a little mixing, which is the new skill I'm developing and I'll share the finished product with the class. This is just for fun and for you and me to learn a new skill.

Head over to zeitgeistacademy.com to learn more and sign up.

Next, I'm really, really excited to share some new things coming up with the Zeitgeist Academy. First, I'm bringing back classes. For the month of December, Discover Your Voice is open for purchase. This is a virtual only singing class for introverted women.

This class is fully self guided and you can purchase at zeitgeistacademy. com.

Then in February, I'm very excited to announce that I have once again partnered with the Incredible Ed Cop to run a blues class. You may know Ed from one of our most popular Zeitgeist Radio episodes on songwriting as a receiving experience.

If you knew me in Portland, this will also be familiar. Ed and I ran an incredible class on how to play the blues that got raving reviews from students and kick ass results. We're going to do it again, this time in a format that is a combination of virtual and live learning. Students will learn to play a 12 bar blues pattern and improvise over the pattern.

You'll also dive into the rich history of the blues and learn to distinguish between several styles, from Delta Blues to Chicago Blues. You'll get a great new soundtrack to listen to and walk out with some seriously upleveled skills. It is for all levels and abilities. If you want to join the waitlist, you can let me know at zeitgeistacademy.com. This class will be a blast. It is an incredible teacher and you'll find this class really empowering and very fun.

Finally, in 2024, I'm looking for more ways to be involved with the people who really love music and to provide more value to my community. To make sure I'm talking to the right people.

I'm starting an academy membership program. It's only 5 and you'll be a member for an entire year. The money is mostly to help offset the cost of hosting the platform. It also functions as a token of your commitment to yourself and your musical journey. Academy membership does a few things for you.

First, it shows both me and you that you are committed to lifelong and cross cultural musical learning. This is about expanding your musical identity and being willing to learn new things. Members will get the first access to our classes and events before the general public. For example, in February 2024, members will get the first shot at the Blues class and be able to secure their spots before we open it up to the general public.

Second, we'll be having some events throughout this next year for members only. Some will be virtual, and while I can't share more at this time, I can promise at least one live in person event. These are only for members, so if you want to meet other interesting music lovers, you'll definitely want to join.

Finally, sometimes I just feel like sharing stuff. This could be anything from a sight reading training to a special interview with a podcast guest that doesn't make the final episode. However, I want to make sure I'm sharing with people who appreciate it. You may wake up to an email with a cool new surprise inside.

Being an Academy member tells me that's an email you're interested in receiving. I envision the Academy as a community where music lovers can easily access the education, mentorship, and network they need to expand their musical identity and show up confidently in culturally diverse musical spaces. I'm really excited about some of the classes we're going to be doing in 2024, and I'm excited about strengthening my relationship with you, my listeners.

So head over to zeitgeistacademy. com for more information on joining the Academy and to sign up for Sing We Joyous. Thanks for listening. It means everything to me. Zeitgeist Radio will return in the new year with an awesome lineup of guests. For now, scroll through this year's episodes and find one you've never listened to.

I'll see you in 2024!
